First, in the median, the plan calls for Newport Plum. The data obtained by the City Forester are indicating that Newport Plum has an unacceptable mortality rate for our local growing conditions. Evidence suggests that this mortality rate could be as high as 50% within the first five years. You are strongly encouraged to replace the Newport Plum with Radiant or Spring Snow Crabapples. Such replz'. ement does not appear to diminish the effect of the landscape plan Second, there are two Austrian Pines located on the west side of re-aligned Harmony Road between the sidewalk and the curb. This is an inappropriate location for Austrian Pine. Again, it is strongly suggested that the Austrian Pines be moved behind the walk, or replaced with a two inch caliper deciduous street tree. These suggested modifications are based on recommendations from the City Forester and are made in the spirit of promoting sound horticultural practice. If you have any questions or concerns about these suggestions, please call our office and we will arrange a meeting with Tim Buchanan to discuss the issues in more detail. In order to promote the changes, I am willing to waive the $5.00 fee for an administrative change to the P.U.D. , since the changes are at our request. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
