Dear Psis Ripley;
On October 15, 1987 you mailed me a letter regarding a hearing on
October 26. I received that -letter approximately October 19 and in
view of what I considered the importance of the subject, .I arranged my
schedule to be, there. Due to business commitments, I was:15 minutes late.
(6:45),by your.clock in the hearing room. Since my interest was Item .8
.on the agenda and since I have never seen a public meeting start on time,
I an. quite puzzled_how.in less than 15 minutes you were able to'conduct
a roll call, bring the meeting to order,'read the minutes from the
September 28 meeting and conduct business on Items 2 thru 10 in less
than 15 minutes, I. did set thru more than 12 hours on Items 11, 12 &
13 of your agenda and it appeared that those itei-,is .would still be
tinder debate until early morning so-1 left.
As far.as the city annexing the 88'.5 acres on the,N.E. corner of
I-25 and Vine Drive, I go on -record as being opposed to it. Since I am
the owner of the property to::the North of the 88.5 acres, I feel I have
a right to, be heard.
First of all,. it was thru my efforts and my money that the area,
became zoned industrial and that is>the•,zoning I wish to.have it remain.-
Secondly, 'I have finally reached an lnpass,with county planners-zahereby
they are not demanding. lot of*additionil concessions. .,I"have spent
approximately.$20,000. to reach this .status and feel I cannot justify
additional 'expense to comply with a new set of rules'to..satisfy the city.
lllso, the location of this property `is "'approximately .6 miles from
the main city border_°if you exclude the -,Budweiser Island. You.have no
services to the areas you.cannot, offer police protection any better than
the county, you cannot offer better fire protection. Basically as I
see it, all,you can do by annexing property is to increase taxes andadd
additional building restrictions.
If I guess right, your response to my letter will be that you are
not ann..exing my property but my neighbors. But you know how that goes as
well 'as I do; today Front Range Farms, tomorrow Frank Just property, next
week Cheyenne and Ault.
