PLANNING OBJECTIVES
REINHOLTZ/FORNEY HOUSE
1. To have the Reinholtz/Forney House designated as a National Historic
Landmark as well as a local landmark. This will insure the continued
protection of the property.
2. To restore the Reinholtz/Forney House to its original condition and
grace using the criteria of the National Parks Service. This will not
only insure correct restoration, but will also make this work more
practical by insuring the availability of certain tax incentives. The
landscape and the structure would undergo major renovation.
3. To generate income from this important historic building by using it
as a four bedroom bed and breakfast facility and a home that can be
used for corporate seminars and other meetings for 1.2 - 18 people. To
use the building as a personal and elegant setting for social gatherings
of up to 35 - 40 people, to occassionaly use the extensive grounds for
wedding receptions during the summer months. The activities would be
limited in size to a maximum of 75 people and be restricted to the
12 hours between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.
4. To maintain the appearance of a residence. Signage will be limited.
Off street parking will not be highly visible from the street. We be-
lieve the appeal of this setting will be lost if its basic character
is altered.
5. To create a cornerstone and showplace for not only the neighborhood, but
also for the city of Ft. Collins. We believe the best way this can be
achieved is by combining a very low impact business use with a quality
restoration. A second life for this special home can be a very practical
reality.
