Dear Keith:
City staff from the Engineering, Transportation, Planning and
Poudre Fire Authority have reviewed and commented on the concept of
adding parking at the McDonald's Restaurant, located at the
northwest corner of College Avenue and Harmony Road. Following are
the comments I have received:
1. We are concerned about the shift from angled to 90 degree
parking, since the site is designed (and needs to function) as a
one-way circulation system. The existing angled parking needs to
remain in order for the site to function as a one-way system.
2. The parking spaces proposed along the College Avenue access are
too close to this entrance. As many as two spaces would need to be
deleted (where new spaces are shown) in order to maintain adequate
distance from this entrance.
3. We are concerned about the appearance of the parking spaces
proposed along College Avenue and would entertain review of a
landscape concept to show how additional buffering could be
accomplished; however, landscaping in this area may be restricted
due to the existing storm drainage easements between the current
edge of pavement and College Avenue.
Based on these comments, the concept of converting the site to 90
degree parking is not supported by staff . Please contact me at
221-6750 to talk further about these comments.
