ITEMS DISCUSSED

2. It was agreed that a more comprehensive document was needed to address
all the issues involved with streetscape standards. The comprehensive
document the Planning Department has in mind would include:
a) A streetscape master plan delineating individual characters
for each arterial street and major intersections.
b) Landscape design guidelines for arterial medians and streets -
capes based on the master plan.
c) Design guidelines to reduce conflicts with utilities.
d) Plant lists, standard details and specifications designed to
reduce maintenance costs.
e) Cost analysis and implementation strategies.
3. It is anticipated that this document will be drafted by the Planning
Department with input from all affected City departments within the next
year (1989).
4. In the interim the Planning Department will work closely with the Parks
and Recreation Department on projects involving City maintained landscapes.
Linda Ripley will be the liaison between Parks and Planning on these
projects.
