Hewlett-Packard Co., fueled by
recent growth in research and de-
velopment areas, plans to con-
struct a fifth

lins site.
The plan calls for a 180.000-
square-foot building just north of
the HP cafeteria, between build-
ings nos. 2 and 6.
Construction of Building No. 5
is expected to begin by spring,
and employees could occupy the
new facility in early 1997.
HP officials would not estimate
the cost of the building.
Company representatives dis-
cussed their plan earlier this
week with the city planning de-
partment during a conceptual re-
view. The company, in southeast
Fort Collins, already has four
buildings — nos. 1, 2, 3 and 6 —
on site, with plans for a total of
seven. HP s last expansion was in
1991, when Building No. 6 and its
annex and attached cafeteria
were built.

Hewlett-Packard Co. employs about
2,800 people at its Fort Collins plant.
The local plant designs and manufac-
tures components for computer work-
stations, as well as networking and
computer -graphics products for soft-
ware. The other HP sites in Colorado
are in Loveland. Greeley, Colorado
Springs and Englewood. HP also owns
Colorado Memory Systems in Love-
land. HP had 531.5 billion in revenues
in fiscal 1995, up 26 percent from 1994.
