Re: Water-Soluble Sulfate Testing Report Proposed Residential Development Lots 1 and 2, Heart of the Rockies Second Subdivision 6501 Brittany Street, Fort Collins, Colorado Soilogic # 21-1239 Mr. Claeys: Soilogic Inc. (Soilogic) has received results of subcontracted water-soluble sulfate (WSS) testing completed for the referenced project. Results of the completed laboratory tests and associated geotechnical engineering recommendations are included with this report. Water-soluble sulfates (WSS) tests were completed by a subcontracted laboratory on two (2) representative samples of the subgrade soils/bedrock which will likely be in contact with structural concrete. The sulfate concentrations measured in the samples varied from 0.0385 to 0.0611 percent by mass in soil. ACI rates the measured concentrations as being a negligible risk of concrete sulfate attack; therefore, Type I cement should be suitable for site concrete. As an added precaution, Type I/II Portland cement could be considered for additional sulfate resistance of concrete in contact with the subgrade soils. Foundation concrete should be designed in accordance with the provisions of the ACI Design Manual, Section 318, Chapter 4. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project.
