Dear Ms. Ripley:
Always pleased that the City wants to listen to neighboring
views, I am writing to express only a few concerns about the West
Fossil Creek Master Plan.
- Applewood Estates is unique in not having the ubiquitous
street lights. The impact of the Nissan dealership South of the
proposed project in terms of light pollution is severe. Please
drive into our neighborhood at night to get the full benefit. In
contrast, the Clarendon Hills project to our West has chosen very
attractive street lighting. I am hoping that when the time
comes, appropriate lighting can be found.
- Again, the Nissan dealership's choice of outdoor
advertising (the "American" flag) is an assault to the spirit of
the sign code. Their use of an outdoor speaker system is most
disruptive to the rural neighborhood even half a mile away.
- I would view any proposal to include railroad docking
facilities with extreme distaste.
Thank you for listening to what must be a constant stream of
"concerns". I cannot help the feeling that the first meeting of
this sort is so vague that one doesn't know exactly what's going
on, and the next meeting may show plans that are already quite
firm. Nonetheless, I am sure that if you put yourself in the
shoes of a neighbor that all will be well.
Sincerely,
hn Bartholow
