1. ALL MANHOLE AND TRANSITION STRUCTURES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH
CHANNELIZING CONCRETE AND ACCESS STEP RUNGS PER CITY OF FORT
COLLINS UTILITIES STORMWATER CONSTRUCTION DETAILS.
2. THE SPECIFIC LOCATIONS AND ARRANGEMENT OF STEPS AND PATH FROM
STREET LEVEL TO BASE INVERT AT EACH STRUCTURE SHALL BE
DETERMINED AND APPROVED IN THE FIELD BY THE CITY'S INSPECTOR. ANY
GEOMETRICS OF THE CHANNELIZATION CONCRETE AND ACCESS STEP
RUNGS SHOWN IN THESE PLANS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED SCHEMATIC AND
TO BE DETERMINED IN THE FIELD PER STRUCTURE.
3. STEP RUNGS, SHALL BE PROVIDED AT 12" ON CENTER MAXIMUM, AND
SHALL CONFORM TO CITY OF FORT COLLINS UTILITIES STORMWATER
CONSTRUCTION DETAILS.
4. STEPS SHALL BE MOUNTED TO BARREL RISERS AND STRUCTURAL WALLS
WHERE POSSIBLE, AND PROVIDED WITH TOE POCKETS IN CHANNELIZING
CONCRETE SO AS NOT TO PROJECT INTO THE FLOW AREA. WHERE
CONDITIONS REQUIRE STEPS TO BE MOUNTED TO CHANNELIZING
CONCRETE, ADDITIONAL REINFORCING OF #3 BARS AT 12" EACH WAY
(EPOXY-COATED) WILL BE REQUIRED IN THE CHANNELIZING CONCRETE,
EXTENDING A MINIMUM OF 3'-0" EACH WAY FROM STEPS.
5. HORIZONTAL LOCATIONS OF AT-GRADE MANHOLE OPENINGS SHALL BE
COORDINATED WITH OPENINGS IN TOP SLABS OF STRUCTURES AND
REINFORCING AROUND THE OPENINGS ADJUSTED ACCORDINGLY.
6. THE FOLLOWING COVER SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR REINFORCEMENT
(UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED):
CONCRETE CAST AGAINST AND PERMANENTLY EXPOSED TO EARTH: 3"
ALL OTHER CONCRETE LOCATIONS: 2"
6. ALL STRUCTURES SHALL BEAR ON A MINIMUM OF 24" COMPACTED CLASS 6
GRAVEL BEDDING MATERIAL OVER UNDISTURBED SUBGRADE OR
EXCAVATED AND RECONSTRUCTED SUBGRADE. THE HORIZONTAL
EXTENTS OF THE BEDDING MATERIAL SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 1'-6" BEYOND
THE OUTER EDGES OF STRUCTURE BOTTOM SLABS.
7. REFER TO GEOTECHNICAL REPORT #20165033 BY TERRACON FOR
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS REGARDING EXCAVATION, AND BACKFILLING.
8. AVAILABLE GEOTECHNICAL INFORMATION IS NOT ADEQUATE FOR
CONFIRMATION OF DESIGN ALLOWABLE BEARING PRESSURE VALUES OR
PRESENCE OF SUITABLE SUBGRADE MATERIALS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
ENGAGE A QUALIFIED GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER TO OBSERVE THE
STRUCTURE EXCAVATIONS. IF MATERIALS OBSERVED BY THE
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER ARE DEEMED INADEQUATE FOR PERMANENT
STORM SEWER STRUCTURE SUPPORT, THE HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL
LIMITS OF OVEREXCAVATION AND SUBGRADE MATERIAL REPLACEMENT
SHALL BE INCREASED TO THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER'S
RECOMMENDATIONS.
9. EXCAVATIONS SHALL BE DESIGNED BY A REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL
ENGINEER IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE OSHA REQUIREMENTS.
10.CONTRACTOR IS ADVISED THAT DEWATERING MAY BE REQUIRED.
ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY OF FORT COLLINS
STANDARD CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS.
GRADE 60 REINFORCING STEEL IS REQUIRED.
ALL REINFORCING STEEL SHALL BE EPOXY COATED UNLESS OTHERWISE
NOTED.
EXCEPT WHERE DETAILED OTHERWISE IN THESE PLANS, THE FOLLOWING
TABLE GIVES THE MINIMUM CLASS B (STAGGERED) LAP SPLICE LENGTH FOR
EPOXY COATED REINFORCING BARS. THESE SPLICE LENGTHS SHALL BE

THE INFORMATION SHOWN ON THESE PLANS CONCERNING THE TYPE AND
LOCATION OF UNDERGROUND UTILITIES IS NOT GUARANTEED TO BE
ACCURATE OR ALL INCLUSIVE. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
MAKING HIS OWN DETERMINATION AS TO THE TYPE AND LOCATION OF
UNDERGROUND UTILITIES AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO AVOID DAMAGE
THERETO. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE UTILITY NOTIFICATION
