On Thursday, August 31, 1989 at 7:00 P.M. at Johnson Elementary, a neighbor-
hood meeting was held on the 5001 S. Shields Veterinary Clinic, located at
5001 S. Shields. In attendance at this meeting was Don Richmond, of Rich-
mond Associates; Dr. Musselwhite, property owner; and Sherry Albertson -Clark,
Project Planner for the City Planning Department. Four residents/property
owners attended the meeting.
The meeting began with an introduction by Sherry Albertson -Clark to the
purpose of the meeting. Don Richmond then provided an overview of the pro-
posed project, after which, questions and comments were addressed.
The following summarizes the questions asked and responses given by the
developer's representative, as well as comments made by the residents.
uestion: What is the configuration of the site, with respect to The Ridge?
Response: Abuts The Ridge at the west end and there is a parcel to the south
of this site that is not included in the project.
uestion: What is the intent for the area nearest The Ridge?
Response: Owner may build his new home there in the future. In meantime,
will remain in pasture.
Comment: Would like to see the horse pasture remain in pasture, near The
Ridge.
Question : What type of veterinary facility would this be? Can boarding be
done?
Response: Only handles small animals. Can board overnite approximately 28
dogs and 25 cats. No outside kennel area.
uestion: How much traffic is expected?
Response: A maximum of 45 cars daily.
uestion: What are business hours?
Response: 9-6 during week and 9-12 on Saturday.
Question : How many employees are expected?
Response: Maximum of 6.
Question : How many parking spaces are planned?
Response: Ten for clients and 3 for employees. May add more for employees.
Question : Is any fencing planned?
Response: None planned.
Question : What type of architecture is planned?
Response: Southwestern style. Would be residential in character.
Question : What type of sign is proposed? Would like to see one fairly small.
Response: Would anticipate low -profile.
uestion: Is noise a problem?
Response: Not a problem at current facility and wouldn't anticipate any
problem here, due to construction materials.
uestion: What is the time -frame for construction/opening?
Response: Plan construction this winter and opening next Spring/Summer.
Comment: Concerned about the present speed limit. Is difficult to get into
driveways along Shields.
Comment: Would encourage residential character be retained on the site and
that landscaping be incorporated.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
