RE: Dixon Creek Lane, Poteet Court, Quail Hollow
Gentlemen:
This report presents our recommendations with respect to pavements
and subgrade stabilization at the above referenced streets in Quail
Hollow, Fort Collins.
Soils at the two sites consist of fine compressible intermixed sand
silt and clay. Based upon a groundwater investigation performed by
Terracon, the watertable at the two sites are approximately six (6)
feet below existing grade. As these measurements were made during
December, water levels may rise during the Spring and Summer
months.
The soil types in combination with the high groundwater, in our
opinion, can potentially cause unstable subgrades similar to that
encountered in Mercy Drive and Lame Beaver Court.
We recommend that the tipper six (6) inch of subgrade below the
Proposed streets be stabali.zed using a minimum of 10% cement by
weight mixed with either the in place material or on site import.
Areas of soft saturated material may require fabric to be placed
between the original grade and any fill.
Due to the variability of the onsite material, we recommend
continious supervision, both prior to and during placement of the
base.
We feel that treating the subgrade as noted above will
substainially increase both the design life and strength of the
pavement section.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call.
Respectfully,
Kevin W. Patterson, P.E. 2384-1
