Based from our RF Rooftop Clearance Calculator, with our current design (Scenario 1), the resulting
antenna tip height must be at least: 8ft (antenna size) + 0.5ft (parapet wall) + 2.2 ft (Result of “h” from
Calculator) = 10.7 ft (minimum antenna tip height from rooftop)
As proposed, the design is already 0.7 feet shorter than needed with the 10’ height.
Scenario 1 (Current Design):
Let’s say for Scenario 2 , we were to push back the antennas 15 feet away from the rooftop edge, the
resulting antenna tip height would now be: 8ft (antenna size) + 0.5ft (parapet wall) + 5.5 ft (Result of “h”
from Calculator) = 14 ft (minimum antenna tip height from rooftop)
Scenario 2- 15 foot setback (What if):
In summary, the more we push back the antennas away from the rooftop edge and the higher parapet
wall height is, the more we would have to increase our minimum antenna tip height relative to the roof
line for the signal to clear the obstruction (i.e., parapet wall).
Also, the more we locate the antennas closer to the rooftop edge, the more we mitigate the external
PIM that may result from the parapet wall/ metallic materials.
