Date:November 16, 2020 Wildland Consultants, Inc. (WCI) completed a nesting raptor survey on the Ridgewood Hills site and surrounding 0.5 mile buffer area after leaf fall (11/5/20). The nesting raptor survey was completed by walking the site and searching all potential nest trees. Adjacent properties were surveyed with binoculars and spotting scope. The nest survey was completed to comply with a request from the City of Fort Collins. Figure 1 shows the results of the nest survey. It is assumed that the American kestrel nest is still present in tree cavity of a large cottonwood tree. Note: nest activity could not be confirmed in November. A raptor stick nest was located in a mature cottonwood tree along the north Louden Ditch approximately 0.1 miles southeast of the southeast property corner. This nest is located on a City of Fort Collins open space area. Based on nest size and location it is assumed that the nest is either a Swainson’s hawk or red-tailed hawk nest. Nest activity in 2020 is unknown. Wildland Consultants, Inc.
