RE: Street Design for Shoreline P.U.D.
Upon further review of the Shoreline P.U.D., the City Engineering Divi-
sion has decided to recommend denial of the request for variance to allow
a non-standard street width. The current standard is 36 foot wide resi-
dential streets and the Developer is proposing a 28 foot wide street.
The narrow street will have single family housing on both sides with only
the standard 2 off-street parking areas per house. The Engineering Divi-
sion recognizes a strong potential of parking on both sides of the
street, leaving only one lane open for traffic to move though the devel-
opment.
After re-evaluating the request for the variance to be granted for the
sub -standard street, the Engineering Division has decided this is not
acceptable, and the request for the variance does not justify the sub-
standard street design. Therefore the Engineering Division is recommend-
ing denial of the 28' wide street request.
