Enclosed please find a copy of a letter that was sent to me from a neighbor that lives next door to an eight bed Bethphage group home for adults with developmental disabilities. I would like to support the fact that persons who live in group homes have proven themselves to be responsible, participating members of the community in which they live and work. In addition, I have personally visited several of the Martin Luther Homes and they are always clean, orderly and very well maintained. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Leslie A. Collins, Colorado 80526 Attention: Leslie Dear Leslie: I am writing you regarding the group home your organization_ orwns on Crescent Dr. for adults with developmental disabilities. Please allow me to take just a minute to express my feelings and experience at living next door to this home. First, it is apparent to me that Bethphage is eager to work at maintaining the pleasant atmosphere in this neighborhood. I appreciate how well the house and yard are kept up, in fact I think you have improved on the landscaping! All in all, I have found everyone next door to be especially considerate to the surrounding people and properties in the area. Most of all, however, I want to tell you that I feel blessed that my children and I have been given the opportunity to get to know the staff and residents who work and live next door. It's my hope that our friendships will grow! In closing I'll just say thanks for being such good neighbors. Sincerely, 39c CcacEY- • C 0 [Fo DLL,%:GATEWAY REHABILITATION CENTER, INC. Tscharner, Executive Director 4L Foothills Gateway Rehabilitation Center Inc. SUBJECT: Eastwood Development This letter is in support of the proposed facility for developmentally disabled children in the Eastwood area of Fort Collins. Martin Luther Homes has served these and 12 other developmentally disabled children in Larimer County very successfully and without neighbor- hood incidents or complaints. Martin Luther Homes is a long-term resi- dential service provider and an approved service agency meeting all licensing requirements set by Foothills Gateway Rehabilitation Center and the State Division for Developmental Disabilities. The proposed home will be appropriately suitable and in accordance with the neighborhood surroundings; and will provide a normalized family setting for these children. The philosophy of Foothills Gateway and the Division for Developmental Disabilities is to move toward smaller, more family -like residential settings in the community and away from institutional settings. We feel this is a very important step and, therefore, strongly support the develop- ment of this home in the proposed site of Eastwood. JCT/bg
