A PERMIT MUST BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY FORESTER BEFORE ANY TREES OR
SHRUBS AS NOTED ON THIS PLAN ARE PLANTED, PRUNED OR REMOVED IN THE
PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY. THIS INCLUDES ZONES BETWEEN THE SIDEWALK AND
CURB, MEDIANS AND OTHER CITY PROPERTY. THIS PERMIT SHALL APPROVE THE
LOCATION AND SPECIES TO BE PLANTED. FAILURE TO OBTAIN THIS PERMIT IS A
VIOLATION OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS CODE SUBJECT TO CITATION (SECTION
27-31) AND MAY ALSO RESULT IN REPLACING OR RELOCATING TREES AND A HOLD
ON CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY.

A. -- ON THE FDP PLANS - CHANGE THESE AREAS TO WOOD MULCH OR A
LIGHTER WEIGHT ROCK MULCH, AND SPECIFY DEPTH OF MULCH. STAFF IS
OKAY WITH A ROCK MULCH THAT IS NOT MORE THAN 3/4" DIAMETER (WITHIN
THE 'A' AREAS). PEA GRAVEL IS ALSO OKAY IF A BLEND OF TEXTURES IS
DESIRED WITHIN THE BEDS. Example of a pea gravel and 3/4 to 1-1/2" blend:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/McaNKWsczczqPKzBA
Mixes with predominantly tan colors are recommended.
REMAINING MULCH AREAS OUTSIDE OF THE 'A' AREAS: Please change these to all
3/4" diameter rock mulch, or a blend of 3/4" and something smaller such as pea gravel. A
blend of 3/4" to not more than 1-1/2" is also acceptable, but is not necessary outside of
the 'A' areas unless there's an area where slope is a concern. Long term the planting
areas will be mostly covered so a mix of larger rock mulch textures won't be necessary
from an aesthetic standpoint. We find that a mix of larger rock diameters can work on
larger projects with larger beds, as long as the areas close to one gallon material are kept
at 3/4 or smaller or if wood mulch rings are feasible.
