RE: Existing Tree Removal Feasibility
The following trees are proposed to be removed and mitigated at the Sunshine House site
located in the northeast corner of Shield and Lake Street.
1. Ponderosa (#4 per tree inventory plan) (6”)
This tree is proposed for removal due to a conflict with the sidewalk. Multiple meetings
have been held with Transportation, Transfort, Engineering and Forestry. The walk is
required per Staff as depicted on the current plans.
2. Douglas Fir (#6 per tree inventory plan) (16.5”)
This tree conflicts with the location of the building. Due to the site constraints, there are
limited options for building orientation, all of which conflict with this tree which is located in
the center of the site.
3. Colorado Blue Spruce (#7 per tree inventory plan) (13”)
This tree conflicts with the location of the building. Due to the site constraints, there are
limited options for building orientation, all of which conflict with this tree which is located in
the center of the site.
4. Chokecherry (#8 per tree inventory plan) (4”-5”)
Per a meeting with the Forestry Department, this tree was deemed a less than ideal right-
of-way tree. It would require significant pruning to allow for pedestrian/vehicular travel
without interference. It would also require significant on-going maintenance. It was
determined per this meeting that replacement with a deciduous tree was more appropriate
for this location.
5. Chokecherry (#9 per tree inventory plan) (6”)
This is a group of ‘suckers’ that have grown out of a stump. The tree had been removed
at some point in the past.
6. Austrian (#11 per tree inventory plan) (10”)
This tree is proposed for removal due to a conflict with the sidewalk. Multiple meetings
have been held with Transportation, Transfort, Engineering and Forestry. The walk is
required per Staff as depicted on the current plans.
7. Hackberry (#12 per tree inventory plan)
This is a group of ‘suckers’ that have grown out of a stump. The tree had been removed
at some point in the past.

8. Hackberry (#13 per tree inventory plan ) (19.5”)
This tree is proposed for removal due to a conflict with the sidewalk. Multiple meetings
have been held with Transportation, Transfort, Engineering and Forestry. The walk is
required per Staff as depicted on the current plans.
9. Hackberry (#14 per tree inventory plan) (14”)
This tree was evaluated during an on-site meeting with Forestry. It was determined that
due to the structure of the tree (leaning and missing branching on one side) that it was
best to remove and mitigate.
10. Green Ash (#15 per tree inventory plan) (11”)
This tree is proposed for removal due to a conflict with the sidewalk. Multiple meetings
have been held with Transportation, Transfort, Engineering and Forestry. The walk is
required per Staff as depicted on the current plans.
11. Fastigiate Oak (#21 per tree inventory plan) (4”)
This tree is proposed for removal due to a conflict with the entry drive.
