The tree is currently in a very small landscape island surrounded by asphalt and a concrete curb. Removing the adjacent curb and asphalt will likely cause damage to the root structure. Three street trees are proposed to be upsized to mitigate for the loss of tree #3. Trees #7 and #8 Hardship: These two trees are too small to qualify for mitigation. Construction access and staging for the project will be primarily located along the Mathews Street frontage. Construction activity will impact the tree’s location and adjacent required protection zone if they were to be protected in place. The project will replace these trees as indicated on the planting plan.
