The installation of this new equipment will provide critical 4G-LTE voice and data services to a location with increasingly higher pedestrian and vehicular traffic providing an immediate benefit to the traveling public, emergency services, residents, employees, and students who attend the university. Specifically, my client proposes the installation of the following equipment: • (16) Antennas, (16) Remote Radio Heads (RRHs), and (4) Over-Voltage Protection Units (OVPs) located behind new screen walls located in the center of the rooftop. The screen is painted to match the building’s primary color and designed to resemble typical penthouses found on rooftops. The total height of the new screen wall is 12’-1” above the existing mechanical well floor, which is not the tallest point of the building, meaning that the new screen wall is well below the 15’ height allowance. • (3) Equipment Cabinets and a utility H-Frame within a new 9’-6” X 17’-0” equipment compound located inside the parking garage. The compound will be secured and screened by chain-link fence. • (2) Existing Bike Racks will be relocated from their existing location within our proposed equipment compound to another parking island. As such, this project does not affect the bike parking requirements. • Conduits and cabling from the proposed equipment compound to the proposed antennas within existing mechanical wells and drop ceilings. • An underground fiber optic cable vault located near the north property line. • Underground cabling from utility sources to the proposed equipment compound. In accordance with the Communications and Technology section of the City Comprehensive Plan, this new wireless equipment will provide citizens access to high-quality, reliable wireless service in a part of the city that faces significant coverage and capacity demands. Access to this improved service will continue to be a critical component for community interactions as well as economic growth now that 4G-LTE has become widely utilized and as the nation begins to transition into 5G capabilities. Furthermore, this design carefully took into consideration and meets the standards as outlined in Paragraph C Standards of Chapter 3.8.13 of the Municipal Code specifically relating to not exceeding the height allowance, locating the rooftop equipment as far back from the rooftop edge as possible, and painting the screen walls to match as closely as possible to the color and texture of the building and surrounding built environment. Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide you with to aid in the review of this project. I look forward to working with your department as Verizon Wireless continues to invest in reliable, fast, and strong wireless services in the City of Fort Collins.
