Please see the following response provided by Joe Olson, Traffic Engineer, on behalf of the City Manager, Darin Atteberry. Ali Recio Executive Administrative Assistant City Manager’s Office: City of Fort Collins ________________________ Dear Mr. Christiansen, Thank you for your letter regarding traffic safety concerns at Harmony Road and College Avenue. The City and State work cooperatively in areas where jurisdictions overlap, and in this location by agreement the management and operation of the intersection and signal, etc. are by the City of Fort Collins. We share your interest in safety at the intersection, which we monitor on an on-going basis, and analyze in detail. In the last three years, the number and severity of reported crashes are not higher than what would be expected compared to similar intersections. As you know, there is a proposed development just east of the intersection. Based on citizen concerns from the neighborhood meeting, we've reviewed the intersection's crash history specific to U-turns and there aren't any crash trends that would suggest the need to restrict this movement. We're able to monitor this intersection from our Traffic Operations Center. Based on your comment about near-misses, we'll spend some extra time watching the intersection --- particularly during the peak periods. We would consider changes if we note any significant issues.
