HomeMy WebLinkAboutBEEBE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL - PDP - PDP160022 - CORRESPONDENCE -Our school is very small with only 12-15 students at this time, and since we do not provide bus service, parents would drop off their children between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. and pick them up between 4:00 and 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Some parents who are on their way to work would like to drop off their child(ren) in front of the main door to make sure they safely enter the school and then continue on to work without having to get out of their cars, saving them time. Other parents, particularly those with children in the lower grades (K-4), sometimes like to park their cars in the parking lot and accompany their child(ren) into the school and spend time with them in the classroom before school starts and/or to talk with the teacher about their child’s school work. Most parents pick up their child(ren) within five to ten minutes of 4:00 p.m., so students would be supervised in the school lobby until their parents arrived at the pick-up point in front of the school. This would make it easier and more convenient for parents as they would not have to park their cars and enter the school to get their child(ren, unless there was a need to talk with the teacher. At this time we only have eight families with children in our school, which means there are only eight cars involved in transporting students to and from school each day. Our school will remain small with a maximum enrollment of 40 (or fewer), but we don’t anticipate that will happen anytime soon. The drop-off and pick-up is also important/necessary for our church as we have elderly members who are taken to church either by family or church members and need to be dropped off and picked up in front of the main entrance to the church since they are unable to walk the 300 feet or so from the parking lot to the church. We also have a few members who have Handicapped Parking Permits that need to park their cars near the main entrance of the church so they do not have to walk far to enter the church. At this time, there are approximately 40 - 50 cars involved in transporting people to church on Saturday mornings between 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. and leaving the church facility between 12:15 and 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon. We also have Wednesday and Friday night meetings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. that involve about 10 to 15 cars. Having drive-through drop-off and pick-up points in front of the school and church are very important as it would make it easier/more convenient for parents with children in our school and would greatly aid/assist those in our church who are unable to walk long distances.
