PESTRITE Pest Management provides quality products and personalized services to meet your
needs. Our unique products and services have been designed for the Colorado climate, are
Environmentally Balanced, and provide solutions to the most complex pest problems. We consider our
customers “Customers for Life” whether we service you as the need arises or on a regular basis.
Environmentally Balanced Pest Management or EBPM is the foundation of our service approach.
EBPM is a process for solving pest problems involving a five-step process: 1) Pre-service environmental
evaluation of structure. 2) Identification of the pest and/or host. 3) Use of any and all non-chemical pest
controls such as sealing, exclusion and/ or sanitation recommendations. 4) Application of odorless,
vapor less pest management materials using the least amount of the most effective materials, with
safety as a primary factor. 5) Continual monitoring and communication between you and PESTRITE
regarding your EBPM program to provide maximum effectiveness. All materials and methods of
application used in performance of services shall exceed applicable federal and state regulations.
PESTRITE shall furnish a certificate of liability and /or workers compensation insurance upon request.
1) Identified Pest(s) To Be Managed
Target Species: Black-Tailed Prairie Dogs
Type of Structure: Residential: Commercial:
2) Wildlife Service
The entire service will include any consultation and or board meetings as deemed
necessary. Before we get started we will also provide a detailed inspection of the entire 40+/-
acre property and identify any burrowing owl activity and continue to monitor the area for the
burrowing owl activity throughout the service. We will gather all the appropriate paperwork
through Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Black Footed Ferret Reintroduction Facility. We
also follow all the guidelines outlined by the Black Footed Ferret Reintroduction Facility for
prairie dog donation. We will need at least 60 days notice for approved work so that we can
obtain the proper permits through the contacts listed above otherwise the service is subject to
being late. Since we have to obtain a permit we cannot guarantee any such permit will be
awarded. We have never been denied a permit but it can happen.
We propose the use of 250 traps across the property and to trap for 7 days. Traps will
be set 24 hours a day for the entire 7 days, unless there is any unforeseen problem. To
minimize disturbance by the public, a majority of the traps will be placed closer to the interior
portion of the property, thus to not attract attention. We currently have 250 traps at our
disposal in inventory and this is what we recommend setting. If more traps are requested we
will adjust the price below. Let us know again 60 days prior to the work being performed so
that we can coordinate the number of traps to be pulled from inventory.
Prior to trapping we will dust all burrows with an insecticidal dust and once trapped we
will use another insecticidal spray to treat the live prairie dogs for fleas. All live prairie dogs
will either be picked-up on-site by the BFFRF or we will drop them off daily.
Once we have trapped for 1 week or we will go through and fumigate the prairie dog
colony with aluminum phosphide. This fumigant has an extremely high success rate when
applied on days that are at least 50 degrees Fahrenheit or above (the fumigant works off
atmospheric and soil moisture). This is important to know, because we would prefer to
fumigate when conditions are ideal to increase the success rate. We will follow-up a couple
different times to make sure that the prairie dog colony has been eliminated, but due to the
surrounding prairie dog colonies 100% eradication may only last a few weeks to months
before other prairie dogs inhabit the empty burrows.

For the trapping portion of the service we will have all traps checked at minimum 2-3
times per day. We will also drop off a pod for our supply post somewhere near the interior of
the property for all of our supplies and equipment. All vehicles and or trailers will be
unmarked to diminish the chances of publicity. Initially we plan on having someone on site
from sun-up to sun-down, but will make accommodations for overnight surveillance if deemed
necessary.
If we have problems for any reason with the public we will use all of our available
resources to manage the situation, i.e. Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Black Footed Ferret
Reintroduction Facility, City of Fort Collins, and Fort Collins Police department. We have a
great rapport with all of these agencies.
I personally will be overseeing this project and will have a team of people assisting in
making this project successful. If I have left anything out or you would like me to add or
subtract anything please let me know. We are excited about this opportunity to work with you
and thank you for giving us this chance to provide a proposal.
