2. Storm Drainage
Phil Robinson is preparing letters to Storm Drainage on each
of the three schools.
As you may be aware, Bob Smith will not let us add water
from the new roof at Lesher to the existing storm drain
system. He suggests we surface drain water over the
playfields east of the school.
We prefer to take the roof drains into a drywell with a
bubbler on the east side of the school that will take care
of most rains. Big storms will overflow through the
perforated manhole cover and surface drain over the play
fields as Bob suggests. I am attaching a detail of the
drywell/bubbler that is a part of our construction documents
at Blevins and Boltz. We will make this change in our
documents to apply to Lesher Junior High also.
The addition at Blevins does not add any new hard surface.
Roof drains run to the new drywell/bubbler.
The addition at Boltz adds 1,620 square feet of new hard
surface. This addition plus about 8,000 square feet of the
existing building (which currently drains at ground level
and causes many problems) will go into a new
drywell/bubbler. Phil Robinson's letter will address the
impact of this water.
Please call if you have any questions.

RE: Science Room Additions to Boltz, Blevins and Lesher Junior
High School
Dear Ted,
1. Reduced pressure backflow preventer
Roger Abrahamson, John Waldo (PR-1), Keith Elliston (City's
Cross Connection Control Administration) toured the above
Junior High's to discuss reduced pressure backflow
preventors.
Keith was very helpful in explaining the new State
requirements to us and making it clear there are no
alternatives to placing these devices on all buildings with
laboratories. The City will begin inspecting all existing
buildings soon under this State Program and will require
adherence to the new requirements.
Keith recognizes the time and budget bind the School
District is in and will work with the School District on
when the work will be done. He agreed to permit these
devices to be installed in the next budget year.
Because the reduced pressure backflow preventers are
required to be put on at the water service entrance to the
schools, Poudre R-1 is considering having the work done at
all of their junior high schools at the same time.
This will be done as a seperate set of plans, probably
prepared by Abrahamson Engineering, and bid for completion
next summer.
We request that this issue not hold up the City's support of
our Science Addition plans.
