June 7, 1993 Commission No.: 1163-16-01-01A Bret Larimer, Ltd. 713 Dennison Avenue Fort Collins, Colorado 80526 RE: Addendum to the soils report for a proposed subdivision, Fort Collins, Colorado (Commission No.: 1163-16-01-01, dated April 30, 1993) Dear Mr. Larimer: This addendum to the soils report referenced above was in response to comments made by the City of Fort Collins. These four (4) items are to be addressed by us: 1. Date the test holes were drilled. 2. Effect of irrigation ditch to the groundwater levels. 3. Requirement for a system subdrain. 4. Verification of the Design Traffic Numbers. Item 1 The test holes were drilled on April 26, 1993. Item 2 Water was not running in the Pleasant Valley and Lake Canal during this investigation. Groundwater levels during this investigation were greater than sixteen (16) feet. Some of the water in the irrigation canal will eventually percolate downward and may reach the deeper groundwater levels. However, we anticipated that the ditch water would raise the groundwater levels no more than two (2) to four (4) feet. Item 3 Based on the conditions mentioned in Item 2, we feel that a system subdrain is not required. Item 4 This pavement design was based on Design Criteria and Standards for . Streets - City of Fort Collins. The DTN of 15 was estimated by the City of Fort Collins at the time of this investigation. Further calculations by the City of Fort Collins indicates a DTN of 8 (18k ESAL = 58,400) for the extension of Birmingham Drive. The 100 East 3rd Street • Loveland, Colorado 80537 • (303) 663-0138
