Susan Bassinger (226-0557) called me last Friday to register a
complaint as to how she and her husband were treated by City
staff at a recent meeting.
Susan and her husband came into the (Planning) office to discuss
the possible location of a sanitary sewer easement across/through
their property in conjunction w/the proposed Lindimer Subdivision.
Those in attendance at this meeting included Susan Bassinger, her
husband (don't know his name), the developer (of the Lindimer Subdv),
and members of the City staff--Kirsten Whetstone, Mark Taylor, and
Kerrie Ashbeck.
Bottom line is that Susan claims she was told by Mark Taylor that
she had no business offering engineering advice (apparently she is
a civil engineer) or stating her opinion (about where the sewer
easement should be located). She was "shocked at how we were treated"
by City staff. Further, she claimed that the developer threatened to
watch every move they (Susan and husband) make on their property... for
anything that might require zoning/expansion/land use process and will
make sure that someone gets involved; I think the message that Susan
felt the developer was conveying is that 'you have caused so much trouble
with this proposed development —everyone is so angry ... that if you
are questionning and challenging so much to make it difficult for
me to develop, I will do the same to you.'
Susan said she stated she didn't appreciate being threatened and Kirsten
responded by saying something to the effect that these weren't threats
but points of negotiation.
Susan scheduled an appointment with me on Friday morning at 10:00 am._
I would appreciate some information back from you by the end of the
day on Thursday as to what took place from staffs perspectives. Thanks.
Diane
