RE: Ms. Bassinger complaint
It is unfortunate when any City customer feels that he or she has
been improperly treated by City staff. We regret and apologize for
any actions on our part at the July 15th meeting which may have led
to this negative perception of the City.
Staff was put in a very uncomfortable situation, as the atmosphere
of this meeting was confrontational from the outset. The
relationship between Ms. Bassinger and the developer of Lindimer
Subdivision, Mark Linder, has deteriorated over the course of this
project, as several letters in the file attest.
Planning Staff advised against this meeting because of the
impending appeal. The Water and Wastewater Utility called the
meeting for the purpose of discussing acquisition of a sewer
easement through Ms. Bassinger's property. Planning and.
Engineering were represented only to provide information about
streets and utility master planning in the surrounding area.
We felt embarrassed by the confrontational attitude on the part of
the developer and Ms. Bassinger, and attempted on several occasions
to bring the focus back to the matter at hand. The purpose of the
meeting was not to discuss the reasons for appeal or planning
aspects of this project. We attempted to diffuse an unproductive,
negative situation and w4ptcaught in a very unpleasant cross -fire
between these two parties.
We do not feel that we acted improperly in this situation, but do
regret that the customer felt mistreated by the City.
Thank you for calling our attention to this item.
