Calculation forms are provided in Appendix D. The stop sign controlled intersections will operate acceptably. Acceptable operation is defined as level of service D or better. It is concluded that the key intersections accessing the Summerhill PUD will operate acceptably. The Summerhill PUD will generate significantly less traffic than the Underhill PUD, which was proposed at this site in 1981. co Cl) MEMORANDUM co O 0 o TO: Eldon Ward, Cityscape Od Fort Collins Transportation Division 10 Fort Collins Planning Department o FROM: Matt Delich Z g W DATE: July 3, 1993 O SUBJECT: Summerhill PUD traffic study (File: 9345MEM1) w z Summerhill PUD is a residential development located south aof Prospect Road and approximately 1/2 mile west of Shields Street in Fort Collins. It consists of 62 dwelling units on Z a 5.23 acres. The units are attached in 2 - 6 plex groupings. r Z m Access is proposed to Prospect Road via Westbridge Drive co on the east and Underhill Drive in the west -central portion M of this development. A reduced scale drawing of the Summerhill PUD site plan is in Appendix A. Westbridge Drive also serves as an access to the "Bridges" residential area to the east of Summerhill PUD. Since Prospect Road is currently being reconstructed, current traffic counts could not be obtained. Therefore, counts contained in a number of traffic studies were used to synthesize the peak hour traffic. The synthesized traffic depicts the conditions when Colorado State University is in session. The synthesized peak hour traffic is shown in Appendix B. z Trip generation was estimated using Trip Generation, 5th W Edition, ITE as the reference document. The townhome category Z (Code 230) was used in the trip generation calculation. Table z 1 shows the daily and peak hour vehicle trips generated at the LJ "' Summerhill PUD. In 1981 a residential development known as > Underhill PUD was proposed at this same location. Underhill PUD consisted of 222 dwelling units on a larger site which = Z extended south of the New Mercer Canal. However, in the c o Underhill PUD there were the same two accesses to Prospect F Road (Westbridge Drive and Underhill Drive). Table 1 also Wo o shows the expected trip generation from the Underhill PUD. N The proposed Summerhill PUD will generate approximately 1/4 . ¢ the number of trips as the Underhill PUD. This is a significant reduction in traffic at the two accesses to Prospect Road. W s Appendix C shows the 1995 peak hour traffic at the two Q intersections that access the Summerhill PUD. This traffic Q includes the background traffic from the existing dwelling units along Underhill Drive. -And from the "Bridges" residential area.
