Having lived in Fort Collins for over 68 years and actively involved in P & Z, City Council and the redevelopment of our Downtown and Old Town, I have been following the transition on the health and appearance of the Poudre River since the 1970's on to today. I vividly remember the River being a dumping ground from left over cement, trash and a tree dump. Although some of the residue is still present, the River has become a priority for Fort Collins and is improving every year. The Staybridge Suites and the ancillary Steakhouse would be a positive enhancement to the River and Lincoln corridors. Cleaning up the existing site, providing the permeable pavers in the parking area compared to the existing packed dirt for the storm drainage and mitigating the present conditions will all make Lincoln Ave and the bike trail more attractive. In addition, the developer plans on improving the bike trail location for better wildlife migration than what exists now. The planned access off of Lincoln to the River Trail will provide safer access to and from the breweries on the north side of Lincoln. Encroaching on the River buffer area is consistent to the Woodward Governor site adjacent to the east. Hopefully, this project will encourage the properties to the west of this site to be redeveloped into a more ecologically compatible sites similar to the subject proposal. Bottom -line, I want to go on record in supporting the Spirit at the River Development. 7 Sincer X4
