Instant Effect: Work with developer to identify a few key locations to have small clumps of 10' to 12' tall evergreens planted. Survivability: o Developer must plant trees identified by the City Forester as low mortality trees. o Developer will post a $xx bond for 5 years to be used to replace trees and shrubs that die within that time frame. Equity and Fairness: Changes to the current standard only apply for affordable housing proposals. The current standards have value, and the reason for deviating from them for affordable housing projects is to offer alternatives that help ensure an additional community value - i.e. affordable housing - can be realized. 0 • d ) LANDSCAPE STANDARDS TREES AND SHRUBS January 11, 1994 CURRENT STANDARDS: Minimum P.U.D. size standards for trees and shrubs: o shade trees = 2" diameter o ornamental trees = 1.5" diameter o shrubs = 5 gallon containers o evergreen trees = 5' height Reasons for current standards: o provide instant landscaping effect o ensure better survivability of trees and shrubs during the first 5 years o provide equity and fairness to different developers and development Where standards apply: o developed parks - yes o natural areas - no o street rights -of -way - yes o common irrigated open space - yes o private lots - no WATERGLEN PROPOSAL: Within common open space: o shade trees = 1.5" diameter o ornamental trees = 1" diameter or 15 gallon size o shrubs = one gallon containers o evergreen trees = 4' or 5' height " January 11, 1994 Tim, Attached is in follow-up to our conversation this morning.
