On Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at 215 N Mason Street in the
Community Room, the City of Fort Collins Planning Department will conduct a neighborhood
meeting to discuss a development proposal in your area.
The proposed project, known as Riverside Solar Park, is located at the northeast corner of
Mulberry and Riverside and was formerly the site of the pickle plant. The lot is owned by the
City of Fort Collins. The applicant, Advanced Energy, is proposing a solar farm project that
consists of over 3,500 solar modules on a tracking mechanism that will follow the sun,
harvesting solar energy to supplement the local grid. In addition, the applicant is working
with Art in Public Places to investigate how this parcel can best serve as a gateway to our
community. A continuous buffer strip along the river to enhance habitat value is also proposed.
Access to the site will be from Mulberry Street, please see enclosed vicinity map. The actual
site layout will be presented at the neighborhood meeting. The property is in the RDR, River
Downtown Redevelopment District.
The purpose of this meeting on May 31st is to give all participants the opportunity to ask
questions of the applicant and provide input in an informal setting. The first 30 minutes will
consist of an open house format, allowing for neighbors to directly interact with the applicant to
understand their proposal, and then a more structured comment session will occur from 6:00 to
7:30. This is an information sharing meeting only and no official City decision will result
from this meeting. Representatives for the applicant will be present to discuss their proposal.
City representatives will be present to respond to questions about the proposed development.
The list of affected property owners for this public information meeting is derived from official
records of the Ladmer County Assessor. Because of the lag time between home occupancy
and record keeping, or because of rental situations, a few affected property owners may have
been missed. Please feel free to notify your neighbor of this pending meeting so all neighbors
may have the opportunity to attend. If you are unable to attend this meeting, written comments
are welcome.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call my office at 970.224.6143.
Sincerely:
