RE: Stonebridge vs. Stone Ridge
What's in a Name: CONFUSION
Dear James:
C O M P A N Y
I am the developer of the Stone Ridge P.U.D. in Fort Collins,
90 acres of mixed -residential uses located on E. Horsetooth Road,
east of Timberline Road. The project includes the potential of
10 to 12 acres of apartment development, "Stone Ridge Apartments."
I am concerned that the naming of the apartment project you are
designing on Harmony Road as "Stonebridge" is setting the stage
for confusion in marketing, project identities, directions for
locating, and emergency vehicle responses. The name "Stonebridge"
simply sounds too similar to Stone Ridge.
Try this experiment. Line up six (6) of your staff members and
give three a slip of folded paper with the word "Stonebridge"
written on it and three with the words "Stone Ridge." Ask each
in turn to open his/her slip and to read the word written on it
quickly. Get the message?
Multiply this confusion by the thousands upon thousands of times
when directional information is given or people telephone 911 and
say they live in "Stonebridge/ridge." We do not need the
problem; there are plenty of other names. Furthermore, the name
"Stone" something or something "Stone" has been used to death
in Fort Collins. You have a fresh, exciting project; do not
burden it with a confusing, hackneyed name.
Sincerely yours,
Lester M. Ka151an
P.S. When do you answer your phone calls?
