6. New street trees should be designed between the sidewalk and curb. Due to
the shade from the Ash, these new street trees should be Lindens.
7. No significant cut or fill on the east side of the row of Ash.
8. The row of trees east of the Ash are Ponderosa Pine. They are some what
shaded out need to be thinned. Every other one of the Ponderosa Pine should
be thinned.
9. The other windbreak row that runs east and west has three rows (Pine, Ash,
and Juniper). Due to close spacings and to provide for future growth,
remove every other tree in each of these three rows. Forestry to be
involved in selecting trees for removal.
10. Another on -site meeting is needed with utilities.
11. All trees to be preserved should be pruned to the City medium prune
standard.
12. The large Cottonwood just north of the windbreak should be preserved and
protected. The sidewalk will need to be placed on the east side of this
tree. Avoid trenching or filling within the drip line.

MEMORANDUM
DT: June 6, 1995
TO: Ted Shepard, Senior City Planner

FR: Tim Buchanan, City Forester
RE: Woodland Park PUD
The forest resource at the Woodlands is significant and needs to be protected and
managed as part of the development process.
The following people were at the on -site meeting at the Woodland PUD on County
Road 9 on June 2. 1995.
- Tim Buchanan
- Mike Reeve - TST
- Tom Iskiyan - Chateau Customer Builders, Inc
- Terrance - City Scape
We reviewed the road widening and utility installation impact and thinning and
management needs in the windbreak. These are the key ideas and decisions from
that meeting.
1. The row of Juniper closest to the road can be removed due to their declining
condition and close location to construction.
2. The next row of Green Ash should be preserved and thinned. Currently trees
are seven feet apart and should be thinned leaving every third tree. City
Forestry should be involved in reviewing which trees to remove. The row of
Green Ash are twenty-two feet east of the flow line.
3. It now appears a detached walk can be placed west of the Ash row 5' - 7'
feet. This would create a 9' - 10' wide park way strip.
4. On the west side of the Ash row, the toe of any fill should start at least
two feet from the outer bank.
5. Utility trenching should be at least 8'- 10' west of the outer bark of the
Ash or other windbreak trees to be preserved.
