The proposed well screen would most likely get clogged in this application where the screen is on an incline and not placed vertical. OA response: A CDOT Type C Inlet is being used as the pond outlet structure. The Type C Inlet Grate is vertical to limit the likelihood of the structure getting clogged. Comment Number: 5 Comment Originated: 06/20/2018 06/20/2018: Please update the text on page 3, paragraph 4.1 in the drainage report to reflect the most current design. Comment Number: 7 Comment Originated: 06/20/2018 06/20/2018: On the raingarden calculation spreadsheet, the percent impervious calculation of 59% seems low for the area draining into the raingarden. Please provide 10 feet of separation. OA response: Storm Sewers have been updated and shifted. FDP ROUND 1 - FINAL COMMENT LETTER 11 Comment Number: 17 Comment Originated: 07/02/2018 07/02/2018: Grading Plan - the courtyard grading plan shows a grade break in what looks like the middle of the sidewalk. This plan is generally hard to read and could use some hatching to help understand what is going on. Additional spot elevations and cross -slopes are also warranted. OA response: The courtyard has been regraded to meet the minimum 2% slope criteria and hatching has been added to help clarify the groundcover. Comment Number: 18 Comment Originated: 07/02/2018 07/02/2018: Storm Sewer Plan - the storm pipes need to be profiled. Why are the slopes along the pipeline varying? When sizes change, what is the reason? You will need to show that the pipe sizes can accommodate the roof and/or site drainage. OA response: Plan and profiles are now provided on the plans. Comment Number: 19 Comment Originated: 07/02/2018 07/02/2018: Storm Sewer Plan - Please specify what sort of HDPE pipe you are specifying? If ADS, those details should also be added to the plans. OA response. The plans now specify the type of HDPE pipe that is recommended as ADS. Details are included in the storm detail sheet. Comment Number: 20 Comment Originated: 07/02/2018 07/02/2018: Storm Sewer Plan - I'm questioning many of the callouts on the storm plan including: Wye callouts - what are these actually indicating? Are these cleanouts or other? grated tops or solid? why are you calling out for an area inlet at the curb in the parking lot? The type C inlet in the rain garden seems like overkill; it would be best to minimize the amount of pipes coming into the rain garden to also minimize the amount of forebays that need to be constructed. OA Response: The Storm Sewer Plan has been revised to address these comments. The site plan refers to the civil plans for permeable pavement design. If you are proposing to use the pavers for LID treatment then this needs to be analyzed and discussed in the drainage report. If not, a detail of how they are to be constructed still need to be provided along with an underdrain design. OA response: The pavers have been removed from the plan set. Comment Number: 13 Comment Originated: 07/02/2018 07/02/2018: Are you proposing a concrete spillway for the emergency spillway from the detention pond? If so, you will need to show a detail of how this is to be constructed. OA response: The bike trail to the south of the ponds will serve as the emergency spillway where excess volume will overtop the trail and discharge directly into the Cache La Poudre River. The overflow weir is designed to be wide enough to minimize the velocities so that rip -rap protection will not be necessary. Comment Number: 14 Comment Originated: 07/02/2018 07/02/2018: The rain garden will need to be protected during construction so please show some sort of protection around the perimeter of the rain garden - straw wattles or silt fence perhaps. OA response: rain garden has been moved to the bottom of the detention pond and wattles are being utilized to protect it during construction. Comment Number: 15 Comment Originated: 07/02/2018 07/02/2018: Grading Plan - the courtyard grading plan indicates a swale with 2:1 side slopes and a point discharge toward the sidewalk. Max allowable cross -slopes are 4:1 and I don't think you want to put planters on 4:1 slopes. In addition, the point discharge needs to be at a location where a sidewalk chase can be installed. OA response: The grading has been revised in this area to meet max and minimum slope criteria Comment Number: 16 Comment Originated: 07/02/2018 07/02/2018: Grading Plan - the courtyard grading plan also indicates some cross slopes less than the 2% minimum. Perhaps a swale needs to be graded in or something of that nature. The site plan shows this area as artificial turf so I'm wondering if this is permeable and if so, what is the subgrade material? Does I need an underdrain? OA response: The turf has a concrete subgrade and is not permeable. the courtyard has been regraded to meet the minimum 2% slope criteria.
