Erin,
I've discussed your new list of proposed street names for Cottonwood Ridge with J.R.
Wilson of our Technical Services Department and Ron Gonzales of Poudre Fire
Authority. Our collective opinion is that Bastille is an acceptable name. However, the
other seven (Caravelle, Chatel, Chinon, Grenelle, Marbella, Moulins, and Pavia) are not.
Again, the primary reason is pronunciation and for accuracy with emergency access.
Additionally, J.R. pointed out that accents are necessary to make the words truly
"French" and these accents would not be able to be printed on street signs and other
documents resulting in incorrect documentation.
Here's another guideline — we are looking for words that can be read and spoken by an
American child more or less 10-12 years of age.
I apologize for seemingly making this process difficult. Please let me know if I can offer
any further guidance or assistance. Also, feel free to submit more names as you come
across them.
Thank you.
