Subject: Harmony Safeway Marketplace PUD
Ted, the most recent submittal for Harmony Safeway Marketplace continues to show a proposed
right-in/right-out access to State Highway 68. The Department has stated our position about that
access and any future plans should remove that direct entry to the site. If improvements are
necessary in order to bring McMurray Avenue and Wheaton Drive access connections to State
Highway 68 into conformance with the State Highway Access Code, those changes will require
the issuance of access permits. Since those are public streets, the Department would be the
issuing authority for any permits.
The fmal landscape plan shows planting of some trees south of the right-of-way line. Be aware
that our maintenance department has taken a position of no trees within the right-of-way.
The June 25, 1996, submittal included extensive utility plans. I have forwarded those plans to
Henry Rangel in the Utilities Section, who would be responsible for issuing a permit upon
contact by the utilities, if any connections lie within the state highway right-of-way.
My comments are based upon the submittal as received June 27, 1996.
