On Wednesday, February 25, 2004, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Flexroom at Kruse Elementary
School, 4400 McMurray Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado, the City of Fort Collins Current Planning
Department will conduct a Second neighborhood information meeting to discuss a development
proposal in your neighborhood. The project is known as Sprint Wireless Telecommunications
Equipment For Cellular Telephone at Lot Eight, Harmony Safeway Center, 1414 East Harmony
Road.
This will be second neighborhood meeting for this proposal. As you are aware, the Sprint Wireless
Telecommunications Company is looking for a new cellular site along Harmony Road to replace the
current Hampton Inn site. They have narrowed their search down to 1414 East Harmony Road, the
site of the 9,900 square foot building that is under construction directly west of Safeway.
The purpose of the meeting is to follow up on the request that Sprint evaluate other locations along
Harmony Road for equipment placement. These other locations are the vacant U.S. Government
building, the under -construction Jay Stoner building (Harmony and McMurray), the existing W.W.
Grainger building and the Pavilion Shopping Center.
Sprint has evaluated these alternative sites by three criteria. The site must be able to provide the
same coverage as the Hampton Inn, provide additional coverage along Harmony, especially west
towards College Avenue, and the placement of anntennaes at approximately 40 feet must not result in
interference with the existing Sprint PCS network.
Sprint has determined that 1414 East Harmony Road (Lot 8 of Harmony Safeway Shopping Center) is
the only site that meets all three criteria. Sprint proposes that a clock tower would be the best way to
conceal the equipment. Photo -simulations of the proposed design will be brought to the meeting.
The list of affected property owners for this public information meeting is derived from official records
of the Larimer County Assessor. Because of the lag time between home occupancy and record
keeping, or because of rental situations, a few affected property owners may have been missed.
Please feel free to notify your neighbor of this pending meeting so all neighbors may have the
opportunity to attend. If you are unable to attend this meeting, written comments are welcome.
