5. The shrub bed line along the south leaves a gap between the bed and sidewalk.
For ease of maintenance, we suggest that the shrub bed brought up flush to the
walk so there is no residual turf area that would be difficult to maintain.
With these changes, we are ready to record mylars. As always, please call if you have
any questions or concerns about these comments.

Dear Peggy:
Staff has reviewed the request for Safeway Fuel Facility Final Compliance and offers the
following comments:
1. We would like to recommend a small additional detail be added to the project to
promote pedestrian and bicycle usage and to help tie the site to the balance of the
center. Staff recommends adding a triangular site area featuring three boulders,
approximately three feet in diameter, surrounding a shrub bed of Dwarf Korean
Lilac in the area indicated on the redlined plan.
This simple, but effective, addition to the plan will provide an informal seating
and gathering area for those customers who may not necessarily be arriving by car
or truck.
We further recommend that the two Spring Snow Crabs be substituted with shade
trees. Such shade trees will be enhance the space for users and are more in scale
with the gas canopy and convenience store.
This site amenity will encourage bike and pedestrian access, especially from the
west where the sharp angle is replaced by two angles that more closely resemble
the way people walk. The ten -foot wide walk could be split into two with the
angled leg being 4.5 feet and the straight leg being 5.5 feet. This site amenity
provides an opportunity to add a little detail for the benefit of bicyclists and
pedestrians.
2. Please revise General Note Number Eight on Sheet one of six.
3. Please remove Plant Note Number Six on Sheet three of six. The warranty is
between the developer and the contractor, not the City.
