Re: Lincoln Park Request for Variance #6 — Sight Distance

Dear Marc:
The following is a request for variance from Section 8.2.14 — Intersection Sight Distance —
Minimum Requirements and Figure 7-16 in the "Larimer County Urban Area Street Standards,
October 1, 2002". This variance request is to allow a reduced Corner Intersection Sight Distance
easement at the intersection of Lemay Avenue and Fitzgerald Drive.
Fitzgerald Drive is classified as a local street and would have a design speed of 30 miles per hour
and a posted speed of 25 miles per hour. Lemay Avenue is classified as a major arterial and
would have a design speed of 50 miles per hour and a sight distance requirement of 1030 feet.
The sight distance for the proposed sight distance easement is 747 feet. The reason for this
variance request is the existing trash enclosure on the Bank of Colorado site. The proposed sight
distance triangle was generated by drawing a line from the midpoint of the west bound lane on
Fitzgerald Drive to the outside comer of the trash enclosure, then extending the line to the right
Lemay Avenue travel lane. Please refer to the attached exhibit for the proposed sight triangles
and sight distance easements.
