RE: Questions for the Lincoln Park Project
Hazmat materials stored on the premise:
• Oxidizers = Chlorine: Trichloro isocyanurate and Calcium Hypochlorite. 100-150 pounds
stored on site.
• Muratic Acid, 2-4 gallons stored on site.
Other Pool Maintenance Chemicals:
• Soda Ash. 50-100 pounds on site.
• Calcium Chloride. 50 pounds on site.
• Sodium Bicarbonate. 50 pounds on site.
• Clarifier. 14 quarts on site.
• Misc. chemicals; Tile cleaner, Algae controllers etc. Typically quart and gallon containers.
All pool chemicals should be kept in a locked storage area of their own with adequate space,
ventilations and "Haz Mat" signage. Chemicals should be assigned their own space in the storage
area and kept on pallets, if they are not in water proof containers, to keep them dry. Shelving for the
specialty chemicals such as tile cleaner etc is ok. Chemicals should be stored so that if there is a spill
the material doesn't mingle with other products. Muratic acid should be stored on the floor and not
on shelves. All hazmat materials should be especially isolated. Chemical container lids should
always be in place and tight. Material Safety Data Sheets for all pool chemicals used are required to
be kept in an organized manner and readily available to any relevant staff members or persons
involved with the pool. All staff members should be instructed on where to find the sheets and urged
to read them.
Sorry it took so long for me to get this to you. I'd be happy to answer any questions you night have.
The Poudre Valley Fire Department is another good resource. They are very helpfW in these matters.
