Dear Resident:
June 28, 2001
On Tuesday, July 10, 2001, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the City of Fort Collins
Streets Facility, 625 North Lemay Avenue (Ninth Street), the City of Fort Collins
Planning Department will hold a neighborhood information meeting to discuss a
development proposal in your neighborhood. The project is the New Belgium Brewery,
Process Water Treatment Facility, File #1-95D.
As proposed, the project consists of a series of ponds and a small building for the
purpose of treating the water that has been used in the brewing process. This water
must be treated before it can be discharged into the public sanitary sewer system and
the City of Fort Collins Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is necessary due to the high
levels of organic material. A plastic bubble would cover one of the ponds. The ponds
are slightly elevated in order to provide landscaping.
Chemicals used in the treatment process would be stored in tanks located within a
secured building. The Poudre Fire Authority regulates the use and storage of these
chemicals.
The site is zoned industrial and is located on the north side of Buckingham Street
approximately 500 feet east of Third Street.
The list of affected property owners for this public information meeting is derived from
official records of the Larimer County Assessor. Because of the lag time between home
occupancy and record keeping, or because of rental situations, a few affected property
owners may have been missed. Please feel free to notify your neighbor of this pending
meeting so all neighbors may have the opportunity to attend. If you are unable to attend
this meeting, written comments are welcome.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call our office at 970-221-6750.
Sincerely:
T
Ted Shepard
