Dear Resident:
July 26, 2001
Thank you for attending the neighborhood information meeting regarding the New
Belgium Brewery - Process Water Facility back on July 10, 2001. As a follow-up to
that meeting, both the City Current Planning Department and New Belgium Brewery
would like to make a correction to a statement that was made in response to a question.
The minutes to that meeting reflect an inaccuracy that needs to be clarified.
The original question was:
"How safe is the pond regarding seepage or other unsafe accidents?"
The original and misquoted answer that was provided was:
"All ponds have a state of the art metal lining with pressurized welds, not
concrete, so they have a longer life span (60 years).
The correct answer is:
All ponds will have a state of the art HDPE (plastic) lining with pressurized
welds. The life span of HDPE (plastic) is much greater than either metal or
concrete (60 years).
This letter is offered as a correction so that everyone has the most accurate information as
possible. If you have any further questions about the HDPE plastic liner, or about any
other aspect of the New Belgium Brewery operation, or the City review process, please
contact either of the two following persons:
