HomeMy WebLinkAboutNEW BELGIUM BREWERY - MAJOR AMENDMENT ..... 7/03/97 ADMINISTRATIVE HEARING - 1-95A - MINUTES/NOTES - CORRESPONDENCE-HEARINGADMINISTRATIVE HEARING MINUTES MAJOR AMENDMENT TO THE NEW BELGIUM BREWERY, #1-95A- THURSDAY, JULY 3, 1997 The hearing was called to order at 1:30 p.m. in the 281 Conference Room by Director of Current Planning Bob Blanchard. Staff Present: Bob Blanchard, Director of Current Planning and Ted Shepard, Senior Planner. Others Present: Merle Hayworth, Neenan Company, Angela Milewski, BHA Design, Joel Lerick, Rand/Scott, and Trish Kraetch, JR Engineering. Director Blanchard reviewed the procedures set forth in the Land Use Code for the hearing. Ted Shepard, Senior Planner gave a brief staff report stating that this project was a request to amend the New Belgium Brewery to add 16 fermentation tanks to the north side of the existing brewery located at 500 Linden Street at the northeast corner of Linden Street and Buckingham Street. The tanks would exceed 40 feet in height. Planner Shepard stated that the staff report contained an analysis of how this request complies with the Land Use Code and stated that staff was recommending approval of the project. Director Blanchard asked about the tanks visibility over the building. Merle Hayworth presented elevation drawings stating that the top of the brew house and office area is 34 feet. He stated that these tanks would be behind the existing tanks and the brewery portion of the building itself. They would be visible from a distance but the closer you get to the building, the less visible they would become. Angela Milewski with BHA Design gave the applicant's presentation. She stated there would be no substantial changes to the existing building, parking and the drive layout. She stated they have also added some additional evergreens for screening along the perimeter of Buckingham and Linden Streets. There was no public input. Director Blanchard adjourned the hearing and stated that his decision would be rendered in a couple of days.
