Supplemental Field Exploration
A total of 5 supplemental test borings, were drilled on December 1, 2004, an approximate depth of 19-
feet below existing site grades at locations as shown on the Test Boring Location Diagram, Figure No.
1. The borings were advanced with a truck -mounted drilling rig, utilizing 4-inch diameter solid stem
augers. The borings were located in the field by pacing from property lines and/or existing site features.
The accuracy of boring locations should only be assumed to the level implied by the methods used.
Lithologic logs of each boring were recorded by the engineering geologist during the drilling operations.
At the conclusion of our drilling operations, a 3-in6h diameter, 10-foot length PVC casing was installed in
each of five (5) supplemental borings for future groundwater monitoring purposes. Groundwater
conditions were evaluated in each boring at the time of the supplemental site exploration and follow up
measurements were obtained on December 9, 2004.
Subsurface Soil Conditions
The subsurface soils at the site within the 5 supplemental test borings generally consisted of an
approximate 6-inch layer of cultivated topsoil at the surface of each test boring underlain by sandy lean
clay, which extended to the fine grained silty stratum at approximate depths of 5 to 17-feet below
existing site grades. The silty sand layer extended to the depths explored.
Groundwater Conditions
Groundwater, or wet cave in (WCI) or dry cave in (DCI) readings, were encountered at approximate
depths of 8-1/2 to 13-feet below existing site grades when checked 8 days after drilling. These
observations represent groundwater conditions at the time of the field exploration, and may not be
indicative of other times, or at other locations. Groundwater levels can be expected to fluctuate with
varying seasonal and weather conditions.
Based upon review of U.S. Geological Survey maps ('Hillier, et al, 1983), regional groundwater is
expected to be encountered in unconsolidated alluvial deposits on the site, at depths ranging from 10 to
20 feet below the existing ground surface at the project site. The possibility of groundwater fluctuations
should be considered when developing design and construction plans for the project. Fluctuations in
groundwater levels can best be determined by implementation of a groundwater monitoring plan. Such
a plan would include installation of groundwater monitoring wells, and periodic measurement of
groundwater levels over a sufficient period of time.
' Hillier, Donald E.; Schneider, Paul A., Jr.; and Hutchinson, E. Carter, 1983, Depth to Water Table (1979) in the Boulder -Fort
Collins -Greeley Area, Front Range Urban Corridor, Colorado, United States Geological Survey, Map 1-855-I.

Re: Supplemental Preliminary Geotechnical Engineering Report
Installation of Groundwater Piezometers, 3-Inch Diameter Cased Borings
Proposed East Ridge (Ryland Annexation) — Single Family Residential Development
South of Vine Drive and East of Timberline Road - Approximately 160-Acres
Fort Collins, Colorado
Terracon Project No. 20045196
Terracon has completed a supplemental soil profile evaluation, which consisted of drilling, and logging 5
additional test borings for the proposed residential development project situated on the south side of
East Vine Drive and east of Timberline Road in north Fort Collins, Colorado. This supplemental study
was performed in general accordance with our Proposal No. D2004382-Revision No. 1, dated
November 24, 2004.
Previous Exploration
Terracon conducted a preliminary geotechnical engineering exploration for the proposed development,
in which 5 test borings were drilled to an approximate depth of 15 to 25-feet below existing site grades
and preliminary design recommendations were provided based on the subsurface profile and limited
laboratory test results. Groundwater during our initial site exploration was encountered at various depths
ranging from 11 *to 17-feet below existing site grades in March of 1999. For further information and
findings thereof, please refer to our "Preliminary Geotechnical Engineering Report" dated March 25,
1999, Project No. 20995028.
Project Information
We understand the planned development will consist of interior roadway infrastructure along with
several single-family residential units having full -depth basement construction. Terracon initially
conducted a preliminary exploration, for the site in which 5 test borings were drilled in March of 1999.
Due to the time of year in the which the initial borings were drilled, (i.e. late winter to early spring) at time
in which groundwater levels may be lower than normal, the project design engineers, TST, Inc.
suggested that we should install temporary long-term groundwater piezometers for future groundwater
monitoring episodes.
