Steve,
For reference, I live in Taft Canyon (I'm actually the closest house in this neighborhood to this
development - the southern of the two lots backing up to Taft Hill at the end of Grosvenor Court).
I was unable to make the information / discussion meeting regarding this development on Thursday due to
a conflict. Just for my information, I would be interested in seeing the proposed layout. If this is too much
work, don't worry. I'm not They could put up a skyscraper there and I wouldn't have an issue - they own
the land, not me. I only have concerns about direct impacts it could have on land they do not own.
Specifically I am speaking about light pollution. One of the reasons I moved here was obviously the
proximity to the open space to the south, and a big benefit of that is the absence of lights in that
undeveloped space (keeping it nice and dark and my yard nice and dark). I also have geography on my
side as the hill between me and the houses on Overlook Dr blocks most of the house lights and all of the
street lights from shining in my direction. Street lights have the ability to ruin the open space trail for night
users, casting too much light on it - and they have the ability to drastically decrease my enjoyment of my
house and possibly it's resale value.
I would strongly recommend that street lights not be installed in this development. If, however, they are, I
expect that they will be placed appropriately - so that they are not able to cast light in the direction of my
residence or the open space (e.g. they are placed close to and to the NE of the dwelling units so the
dwelling units block the light). I do not have geography in my favor here but will have a direct line of sight
to this development from the west. My yard and the open space are not baseball fields. As such, they do
not need to be lit at night.
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Craig
