RE: Fossil Creek Nursery P.U.D. Hazardous Materials Impact Analysis
Dear Sir or Madam,
MIN &
HID.RNT
BMW
We are planning to build a retail nursery at 7029 South College Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado.
At this location we will be handling a relatively small amount of materials which will be
considered toxic, corrosive or flammable. The materials for the most part will be packaged in
small retail packages. The most notable exception, will be on site 500 gallon fuel tanks for diesel
and gasoline. These tanks will be placed away from buildings and inside a contained area of soil
berms in order to contain a major spill.
The packages of the toxic, corrosive or flammables will be located in the retail garden center and
greenhouse. Our backstock of the materials for liquid pesticide chemicals will be kept in an indoor
storeroom on the back of the building. Fertilizer backstock will be kept in a building separate
from the main store.
The main building and greenhouse will be equipped with a fire sprinkler system. A fire hydrant
will also be located on site. The site will be designed so that runoff water from the site will be
gathered in a series of ponds. Any water used in fighting a fire should go into these ponds and be
contained on site.
Toxic liquid or solid spills should be very small in nature as our products are usually packaged in
pint and quart containers. Our employees are trained to handle pesticides safely. We have
equipment on site such as respirators, rubber boots and gloves, containment pillows, and chemical
absorbing products. The spill would be contained, cleaned up and disposed of through either
application or normal commercial toxic waste disposal service.
I would be glad to answer any further questions regarding hazardous materials on our project.
Please feel free to call with any questions.
Sincerely;
gJaceg
