I understand that Jefferson Commons received preliminary approval
at
P & Z with the Orchard Drive street connection deleted. There is
a possibility that this may cause a problem from the standpoint
of water pressure.
We had previously told the evelopers engineer that a water main
must be installed to connec the two existing dead end mains in
Orchard. In addition, a ma n was required to connect this main
in Orchard to the mains within the project site. The
distribution system modeling (which we did to analyze the impacts
that the development would have on water pressure) was based upon
this connection being made and interconnecting with the water
mains within the proposed site.
Over the years, we have found that it works best to locate our
mains in paved areas. With the street not going through, we will
have to re -think the requirement to connect the existing dead end
mains in Orchard. Elimination of this loop and the related
interconnection to the development will have a negative effect on
the water pressure in the area. As time allows, we will make
additional modeling runs to assess the impacts of these changes.
I will let you know what the results are when we have completed
the modeling.
Thanks, Roger
