The enclosed sketches show comments on the blank wall sections between entrances and
the painted parking lot islands west of the "Bennigan's" pad.
As we discussed in our recent meeting, these comments are to continue the cooperative dialogue
in making progress toward the LDGS criteria and the Interim Standards and Guidelines for All
Commercial Development. All of this is in the spirit of trying to flexibly adapt the criteria to
accommodate the existing deficiencies of the site layout regarding comfortable human scale,
landscaping etc. I know that recent visits to the site by all of us have affirmed the need to attend
to those design details which are reasonably feasible.
I have found that it is impossible to assess the pedestrian scale effects of large buildings at 20
scale or larger. Even 10 scale is difficult although that is the way I have looked at the blank wall
areas. Please consider these comments at an enlarged drawing scale -- 10 scale or preferably
larger.
The blank wall sections in particular offer opportunities for pedestrian scale amenities, spaces,
and details, as well as the chance to emphasize the projections and recesses along the gigantic
overall wall.
