Terracon Consultants Western, Inc., Empire Division has completed a geotechnical engineering exploration for the proposed Greens at Collindale PUD residential development to be located on South Lemay Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado. This study was performed in general accordance with our proposal number D2096009 dated January 18, 1996. The results of our engineering study, including the boring location diagram, laboratory test results, test boring records, and the geotechnical recommendations needed to aid in the design and construction of foundations and other earth connected phases of this project are attached. The soils at the site consist of sandy lean clay and fat clay with sand underlain by silty sand with gravel and claystone bedrock. The upper clay soils at the site are moderately to highly expansive. Structures should be supported by conventional -type spread footings and/or grade beams or pads and/or grade beam foundation systems. Basement construction is feasible at the site; however, it is recommended that perimeter drains be provided around the lower basement areas. Due to the expansive nature of the upper clay soils at the site, consideration should be given to structural floor systems at the upper level where these materials will be found.
