COLLINS CARWASH, WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATION FACILITY (VERIZON) - PDP - 35-96C - CORRESPONDENCE - CITIZEN COMMUNICATION (11)ob Barkeep -monotower installation @Valley Forge and Taft Hill Rd Page 1 From: "Richard Vail" <vailtrail@comcast.net> To: <bbarkeen@fcgov.com> Date: 1/27/04 5:39PM Subject: monotower installation @ Valley Forge and Taft Hill Rd MrBarkeen Thanks so much for the information on the Verizon Tower installation that is under consideration for the Taft Hill/Valley Forge intercection. I went out today and looked at the two other towers that have gone up in town. The towers at the other locations seem to be at least 100 yards away from major streets and and are also located behind buildings of substance. The one behind the Toddy's store is painted to blend into the shopping center roof and there are trees that are as tall as the tower between it and the neighborhood. The one behind the Poudre Valley Medical building off Harmony is not in an established neighborhood and is very far from the major road. I object to the monotower and support building being put up at the SW corner of Valley Forge and Taft Hill Rd. I believe the looks of it will take away from the neighborhood. The shopping center has made major improvements during this past year and has been a big asset to the area. This tower would be an eyesore that is located at a very busy intersection and the main entrance into the shopping center. At this time it is a nice green corner with small trees, shrubbery, and a drainage area that attracts lots of birds. The tower would not be hidden behind large buildings and tall trees like the other two are. There are better places that it could be located in this same area of the city. Lots of people drive by this intersection including the city buses and a tower here would not blend into the neighborhood. I believe it will take away from the neighborhood and change the character of it in a negative way, maybe even lowering property values. Please pass on my objections to the hearing office. Could you tell me when the public hearing is scheduled? Thank you very much Jan Vail 2004 Yorktown Ave Fort Collins 80526 970-484-8442
