SUBJECT: Drake Crossing Wireless Telecommunication Facility
The March 6, 2004 letter from Pete Steele is in response to a wireless telecommunication
facility to be located at the northwest corner of Drake Road and Taft Hill Road. The
applicant is Verizon Wireless who is proposing a 65-foot monopole and associated
equipment enclosure next to the existing car wash. A neighborhood meeting was held on
February 25, 2004, with over 40 neighbors in attendance.
The application is a Type II (Planning and Zoning Board) Review and is considered
Quasi -Judicial. The project has been tentatively scheduled for the May 20, 2004 Planning
and Zoning Board Hearing. With the likely hood of an appeal of the Planning and Zoning
Board decision to the City Council, it is staff s recommendation that Councilor Tharp
reframe from receiving additional information on this item in the event the project is
appealed to the City Council.
